The Summit has the incredible vision to redefine to our community the way they think about God and His people. We feel that we can best do this by living out a simple purpose of Loving God, Loving People, and Impacting the World.
LOVE GOD

In our purpose to love God The Summit wants to be a community of believers who are radically devoted to Jesus Christ. Radical is defined as “a: considerable departure from the usual or traditional : extreme b: tending or disposed to make extreme changes in existing views, habits, conditions, or institutions” (Merriam-Webster Online Dictionary copyright © 2005 by Merriam-Webster, Incorporated). It is that departure from the traditional that we want to become. We want to change the views and the opinions of those who have given-up on church. We want to renew their hope and open them up to an exciting world that only Christ can create for them.
A Radical devotion to Christ will show those around us that there is indeed something different about an authentic relationship with Jesus. Only a radical devotion will make a significant difference in the life of the believer and only a radical devotion will make those who are far from God want to pay attention.
As a community of Christ-followers, we believe it is that devotion that will shake the very foundation of what others thought about organized religion. We believe it will make the community re-think what they thought about God, Jesus and the church. Most of all, we believe it will influence the, otherwise mediocre, Christ-follower and turn them into a believer who worships a supernatural God with great urgency and expectation.
LOVE PEOPLE

The Summit wants to be more than just a friendly community of Christ-followers; we want to be a relational church. We believe people who come to our gatherings are looking for more than just a smile or a casual “hello”. They are looking for friendships and for people who care. If we are going to be a community that loves people, it means we must grow smaller as we grow bigger. It also means we must be connected on a daily and weekly basis. At the Summit we do that through Base Camp groups. Base Camp is just a creative term for community groups. By getting involved in a Base Camp each person will have a life-giving support group of spiritual and relational partners. They will have a group who will invest in their lives and who notice when they are gone, when they are sick or when they just need a friend.
Base Camp is one of the fundamental foundations of spiritual growth with Christ and the overall experience at The Summit.
IMPACT THE WORLD

When Christ gave the ultimate mission to the church in Matthew 28:18-20, it was not an option, a suggestion or a good idea…it was a non-optional command for the church. At The Summit we want to make sure everything we do is measured by our vision. Our vision to be a community of Christ followers who are reaching people that are far away from God and helping them come back into a life-giving relationship with Him. Servant Evangelism is an important part of how we will do this at The Summit. We want to actively search for opportunities to invest in Seymour and the surrounding communities, we attempt to show the community our love by the way we serve not just by what we say. Sometimes people just need a helping hand and The Summit intends to be that source of help.
Church Planting will be an important part of reaching others at the Summit. We believe if our church is going to have a heart for reaching those who far from God , we must put our words to actions by investing in other church plants from day one. That may be a financial investment or an investment in time or resources, whatever the case, we believe the more churches we help start the bigger our heart will be to reach the lost. The Summit Church wants to touch the hearts of all. We want to help those who are at the bottom and feel there is no way out, to climb out of that hole and show them how the love of Christ can serve them. We believe by developing these outreach services and making them available to anyone, in or out of the church, we will be able to reach people who have never been touched by the compassion of Christ before.
